Charles Dickens been a Christian himself understood that death is the final exit?

Can I point out that "A Christmas Caron" is in fact a novel, and not a statement of faith? For Dickens' literary purpose it suited to present the death of Scrooge as a finality. That no more shows that Dickens disbelieved in an afterlife than his having Tiny Tim say "God bless us, every one" shows that Dickens is a theist.
